Big K (Karim): 16 Years of Coaching, 315K Followers, and Rare Honesty

Karim, aka Big K, is an OG in the French coaching world. He's been doing this for 16 years. Got his coaching certification back in 2006, started in a gym, and built his entire client base in Paris through word of mouth. Today he's got 315,000 followers on Instagram, 30,000 on YouTube, and a level of honesty about the fitness industry that you almost never hear.

What makes this episode so packed is that Karim says the things most coaches think quietly but never say out loud. About free content, about authenticity, about reinvesting in your business... he's got a clarity that comes from 16 years of actually doing the work. It's not theory. It's lived experience.

What you'll learn in this episode

  • Free content has been his only acquisition channel for 16 years

Karim's never run a paid ad. Never done a campaign, never used a growth hack. His method is straightforward: give away as much free content as possible, explain things in the simplest way you can, and people come to you on their own. It takes time, but when clients show up like that, they're already convinced before they even reach out. That's way better quality than any paid ad could deliver.

  • Word of mouth is his most powerful tool

Here's the thing: Karim never posts before-and-after photos of his clients. That's a deliberate choice. His clients are the ones who tag him and share their own transformations. He doesn't need to show off his results because people talk about them for him. And that's the ultimate proof of trust as a coach: your clients promote you without being asked.

  • His authenticity on social media can't be handed off to anyone else

He's been offered community managers multiple times. He's always said no. What works on his profile is his voice, his personal touch. If someone else posts on his behalf, it breaks exactly what sets him apart. And he's right, because people follow a person, not a content strategy.

  • Reinvesting in your business is how you actually grow

Karim puts it clearly: if you're bringing in 3,000 to 4,000 euros a month and you reinvest part of it into the right tools, whether that's a website, training, or an assistant, you get time back. And that time you free up is what lets you grow your business. Money you don't reinvest is growth you're leaving on the table.

  • 70% of his clients are women, and it happened by accident

One day Karim posted a single before-and-after in his story. Just one. And it changed everything. Since then, 70% of his clients have been women looking to lose weight. He didn't target that segment on purpose. It came to him. In France, two-thirds of people who hire a coach are women. Men still have that ego thing where they won't ask for help.
