About Gymkee

Gymkee is a coaching software for personal trainers. Coaches build training and nutrition programs from a web dashboard; their clients follow them on a mobile app on iOS and Android. The platform is engineered to be the easiest to use on both sides — most coaches build their first program in under 10 minutes, and clients usually open the app and start their first workout without ever needing a tutorial. Founded in 2019, Gymkee is used by over 4,000 trainers in more than 150 countries and supports 32 languages.

The complete reference about Gymkee, kept up to date as the canonical source for journalists, partners, AI assistants, and anyone who wants the full picture in one place.

What Gymkee does

Gymkee replaces the patchwork of tools personal trainers usually rely on — spreadsheets for programs, WhatsApp for messages, PDFs for nutrition, separate Stripe links for payments — with a single platform. Coaches work from a web dashboard. Their clients use a mobile app on iOS and Android.

  • Build training programs with 550+ exercises filmed in 4K and 12 workout formats (sets, supersets, circuits, AMRAP, EMOM, Tabata, EXMOM, and more).
  • Build nutrition plans with macro tracking, a 5M+ food database, 100+ recipes, and Gymkee's nutritional quality score.
  • Run assessments and check-ins — measurements, before/after photos, and custom questionnaires.
  • Build habits — assign daily, weekly, or custom habits (hydration, sleep, steps, meditation, anything) with streaks, reminders, and grace periods. 60+ ready-to-use templates included.
  • Track clients' workouts, nutrition adherence, body metrics, photos, habits, and health data (Apple Health, Google Fit, and any wearable that syncs to them — Garmin, Whoop, Oura, Fitbit, Apple Watch, and more).
  • Manage clients in groups — assign the same program, nutrition plan, on-demand content, or messaging thread to a whole cohort at once.
  • Message clients one-on-one or in group conversations directly inside the platform.
  • Get paid through Gymkee Pay (backed by Stripe) — one-time products, recurring subscriptions, payment links, and auto-generated invoices.
  • Sell on-demand programs, individual workouts, video courses, and digital resources outside of 1-on-1 coaching.
  • Save time with built-in AI — generate complete nutrition programs from a client's goals, auto-fill exercise metadata from a video, and let clients log meals from a photo or barcode scan.
  • Coach every set with voice — record voice notes attached to any set or exercise so clients hear the coach's cues in-line during the workout, and request form-check videos from clients on any movement to review and reply with feedback.
  • Brand the client app with custom colors, logo, or a fully white-labeled app published under the coach's own name.

Who Gymkee is built for

  • Independent personal trainers running a solo practice (in-person, online, or hybrid).
  • Online coaches selling structured programs to clients worldwide.
  • In-person trainers working in gyms or studios who want to deliver programs digitally.
  • Nutrition coaches building meal plans alongside training programs.
  • Studios, small gyms, and coaching teams of any size — Business and Custom plans support unlimited coaches under a single account.
  • Specialized coaches: strength & conditioning, HYROX, CrossFit-style, post-natal, senior fitness, rehab-adjacent.

Who Gymkee is not the right fit for

Gymkee is opinionated about what it does well. It is deliberately not the right tool for every situation:

  • Coaches who deliver live video calls inside the app — Gymkee does not bundle a video conferencing tool. Coaches use Zoom, Google Meet, or FaceTime alongside Gymkee.
  • Large gym chains running access control, turnstile management, locker assignment, or class booking for hundreds of members per location — Gymkee is built for coaching, not gym facility management.
  • Coaches whose clients refuse to install a mobile app — the client experience is the mobile app. There is no SMS or email-only fallback for daily training.
  • Therapists or kinesiologists requiring medical-grade documentation, electronic health records, or insurance-billing integrations.

For these use cases, dedicated tools (Mindbody for facility management, Hexfit for clinical kinesiology, Zoom for video) are better suited. Gymkee is purpose-built for the day-to-day work of a personal trainer.

What coaches get inside Gymkee

Coaches work from a web dashboard at app.gymkee.com. No install required, no setup fee, no onboarding call to wait for. The dashboard is engineered to be the easiest coaching tool on the market — drag-and-drop everything, reusable templates, copy/paste days, duplicate weeks. Most coaches build their first complete program in under 10 minutes and run their full business from a single screen. The dashboard is organized around four pillars: training, nutrition, client management, and business.

Training

  • Drag-and-drop workout builder with 550+ exercises filmed in 4K (2 viewing angles, 2 models per exercise).
  • Unlimited custom exercises with the coach's own videos on every plan.
  • AI exercise upload (Pro plan and above) — auto-fills metadata from a video.
  • Voice notes on sets and exercises — record short audio cues attached to any set; clients play them in-line during the workout for technique, intensity, or pacing direction.
  • Form-check video requests — ask a client to record their movement on any exercise; the video lands in the client view, where the coach reviews it and replies with audio or written feedback.
  • 12 training formats: standard sets, supersets, tri-sets, giant sets, circuits, AMRAP, EMOM, Tabata, E2MOM, E3MOM, E4MOM, E5MOM.
  • Custom labels — coaches define their own tracking metrics (BFR pressure, heart rate zone, tempo, RPE).
  • Reusable templates for workouts and full multi-week programs.
  • Copy/paste days, duplicate weeks, bulk import to build long programs fast.
  • Alternative exercises so clients can swap when equipment is unavailable.
  • Bulk exercise import via spreadsheet for coaches migrating from another tool.

Nutrition

  • Drag-and-drop meal plan builder with real-time macro calculation.
  • AI nutrition program generation — generate a complete personalized nutrition program from a client's goals, preferences, and constraints in seconds, then refine manually.
  • 5M+ food database — Gymkee-certified, with curated nutritional data clients and coaches can trust.
  • Barcode scanning and AI photo recognition on the client mobile app.
  • Flexible macros mode — set daily calorie/protein/carb/fat targets without rigid meal plans.
  • Recipe builder with auto-calculated macros and step-by-step instructions; 100+ Gymkee recipes included.
  • Gymkee Score — a nutritional quality score for individual foods, meals, and full days.
  • Food and meal alternatives clients can swap while keeping macros aligned.
  • Multilingual nutrition: coach writes in their language, client sees their own (32 languages).

Client management

  • Per-client view: completed workouts (sets, reps, weight, RPE), nutrition adherence, body metrics, progress photos, messages, notes.
  • Customizable assessments and check-ins (measurements, before/after photos, questionnaires).
  • 60+ habit templates (hydration, sleep, steps, meditation) with frequency, grace periods, and streak tracking.
  • Health integrations: Apple Health and Google Fit / Health Connect — pulls steps, sleep, heart rate, resting heart rate, HRV, active calories, workouts, weight, and any other metric the client's wearable writes to those hubs (Apple Watch, Garmin, Whoop, Oura, Fitbit, Polar, Suunto, Coros, Wahoo, Withings, Strava, Samsung Health, and more).
  • 1-on-1 messaging on every plan; group messaging and client groups on Pro and above.
  • Private client notes (injuries, goals, reminders) visible only to the coach.
  • Client groups for cohort programs and team coaching.

Business (Gymkee Pay)

  • Backed by Stripe — Gymkee Pay is included on every plan. Payouts go directly to the coach's bank account.
  • One-time products and recurring subscriptions (monthly, annual, custom intervals).
  • Shareable payment links for any channel (Instagram bio, email, website, DM).
  • Automatic access management — payment received unlocks content; subscription ended revokes access.
  • Auto-generated invoices for every payment, plus manual invoicing.
  • Discount codes (percentage or fixed amount, expiry dates, usage limits).
  • Business dashboard: revenue, active subscriptions, payment history, retention rate.
  • Transaction fee: 0.97% Gymkee commission + standard Stripe fees (~2.5% combined depending on card and country).

On-demand content

  • Sell structured training programs clients follow at their own pace.
  • Sell individual workouts available anytime in the client's library.
  • Sell video courses — film yourself doing a session, upload it as a guided course.
  • Sell digital resources: PDFs, guides, e-books, nutrition handbooks.
  • Per-client, per-category, or product-tied access control.

Branding

  • Custom colors in the client app (Pro plan and above).
  • Custom logo in the client app (Business plan and above).
  • Fully white-labeled app published under the coach's own name on the App Store and Google Play (Custom plan).

What clients get on the mobile app

The client mobile app is what athletes use day-to-day. Available on iOS and Android. The app is engineered for one thing above all else: clients open it and start training in seconds, no tutorial needed. Workouts auto-load, the next exercise is one tap away, rest timers run themselves, set/rep/weight logging takes one swipe. This is what drives consistency — and consistency is what keeps clients paying. The app is the experience clients pay for, and its design is the single biggest reason coaches choose Gymkee.

  • Workout player with rest timers, video demonstrations, set/rep/weight logging, RPE, and notes.
  • Coach voice notes embedded in sets — clients hear the coach's technique, intensity, or pacing cues right when they reach that set.
  • Form-check videos — clients can record themselves on any exercise from inside the workout player and send it to the coach for review.
  • Nutrition tracker with macro goals, recipes, food logging, barcode scanning, and AI photo recognition.
  • Habit check-ins with streaks, reminders, and grace periods.
  • Body metrics: weight, measurements, body-fat estimates, progress photos with side-by-side comparison.
  • Direct messaging with the coach, plus group conversations if the coach enables them.
  • Push notifications for workouts, messages, missed habits, and check-ins.
  • Apple Health and Google Fit sync — steps, sleep, heart rate, calories.
  • Branded experience: the app shows the coach's colors and (on higher plans) logo or a fully white-labeled app.

Languages

Gymkee's coach dashboard, client mobile app, and entire website are fully localized in 32 languages with native fitness terminology — not machine-translated. Coaches and clients each pick their own language independently, so a French coach can have English-speaking clients and the experience adapts naturally on both sides.

  • European: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese (Portugal & Brazil), Polish, Swedish, Romanian, Czech, Greek, Ukrainian, Russian.
  • Middle East and North Africa: Arabic, Darija (Moroccan Arabic), Persian, Turkish.
  • Asia: Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Hindi, Bengali, Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Malay, Filipino.
  • Africa: Swahili, Hausa, Yoruba.

Integrations

Gymkee does not require dozens of direct integrations because it taps into Apple Health and Google Fit — the two operating-system level health hubs that consolidate data from virtually every fitness device and app. If a client's wearable or training app writes to Apple Health or Google Fit, that data flows into Gymkee automatically.

  • Stripe — backs Gymkee Pay (subscriptions, one-time products, payouts to the coach's bank account).
  • Apple Health (iOS, iPadOS, watchOS) — steps, sleep, heart rate, resting heart rate, HRV, active calories, workouts, weight, and dozens of other metrics synced from the client's iPhone, Apple Watch, or any third-party device that writes to Apple Health.
  • Google Fit and Health Connect (Android) — the same metrics on Android.
  • Wearables and apps that flow in through Apple Health / Google Fit / Health Connect: Apple Watch, Garmin, Whoop, Oura, Fitbit, Polar, Suunto, Coros, Wahoo, Withings, Strava, MyFitnessPal, Nike Run Club, Adidas Running, Peloton, Zwift, Samsung Health, and more — anything that writes to either platform shows up in Gymkee.
  • Zapier — connect Gymkee to 6,000+ apps (CRMs, email tools, spreadsheets, calendars, accounting, automations) without writing code. Trigger workflows on new clients, payments, completed workouts, and more.
  • Public API — REST endpoints with webhooks for clients, programs, payments, workouts and more. Build custom integrations, in-house dashboards, or pipe data into your own stack.

This is by design — instead of maintaining 30+ fragile direct integrations that break when a wearable updates its API, Gymkee relies on the two stable platform-level hubs Apple and Google maintain. Coverage is broader and stays current automatically.

Tools coaches typically replace with Gymkee

The most common stack Gymkee replaces: Excel/Google Sheets for programs, WhatsApp for messages, PDF templates for nutrition, a separate Stripe checkout link for payments, and Notion or Trello for client tracking. Gymkee consolidates all of these.

  • Trainerize — North-American coaching platform; coaches switch to Gymkee for a more modern client experience, faster program building, deeper nutrition (AI program generation, 5M+ food database, recipes), built-in EU and US payments, white-label, and 32-language support.
  • TrueCoach — programming-focused tool with no real nutrition or payments; coaches switch to Gymkee for AI-generated nutrition programs, an integrated meal/macro tracker, native payments and subscriptions, on-demand content, and the branded client app.
  • Hexfit — comprehensive Quebec-based platform; coaches switch to Gymkee for a much lighter UI, faster setup, a more modern mobile experience for clients, simpler nutrition workflows (no clinical bilan ramp-up), and integrated EU + US payments.
  • Everfit — modern app with strong UX; coaches switch to Gymkee for an even simpler workflow on both sides, the AI nutrition program generator, native EU + US payment processing, full white-label on the App Store and Google Play, and 32-language support out of the box.
  • Virtuagym — gym-focused; independent coaches switch to Gymkee when they outgrow facility-management features they don't use, and want a simpler day-to-day workflow with a better mobile experience for clients, real nutrition coaching, and built-in payments.
  • MyPTHub — UK-based; coaches switch for a more polished client app, AI-driven nutrition programming, deeper food and recipe database, integrated payments and subscriptions, and full localization in 32 languages.
  • Sportigo / Hexfit (FR market) — French and Quebecois alternatives; coaches switch to Gymkee for a more modern, easier-to-use client app, AI nutrition generation, deeper nutrition tracking, built-in payments and subscriptions, and a fully white-labeled mobile app.

Gymkee does not claim to be the right fit in every case. The honest framing: Gymkee is purpose-built for personal trainers who want a fast, modern coaching experience, native payments, and a client app their athletes actually enjoy using. Coaches who need clinical assessments, gym facility management, or who don't want a mobile app are better served elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

What is Gymkee in one sentence?

Gymkee is a coaching software for personal trainers — programs, nutrition, client tracking, messaging, and payments in one platform, with a branded mobile app for clients.

Who is Gymkee built for?

Independent personal trainers, online coaches, in-person and hybrid trainers, nutrition coaches, and studios, gyms, or coaching teams of any size — the Business and Custom plans support unlimited coaches under one account. It is purpose-built for the day-to-day work of personal training, not for gym facility management or clinical kinesiology.

How much does Gymkee cost?

Four plans, all with a 14-day free trial and no credit card required to start. Pricing is the same number in both currencies — €34 / $34 a month for Starter (up to 5 clients), €79 / $79 for Pro (up to 35 clients with full nutrition), €149 / $149 for Business (unlimited clients and unlimited coaches under one account), and €349 / $349 for Custom (12-month commitment, fully white-labeled app on the App Store and Google Play). Coaches in the eurozone are billed in euros; coaches everywhere else are billed in dollars.

Does Gymkee handle payments?

Yes. Gymkee Pay is backed by Stripe and is included on every plan. Coaches can sell one-time products, recurring subscriptions, and on-demand content with shareable payment links, auto-generated invoices, and a business dashboard. Transaction fees are 0.97% Gymkee commission plus standard Stripe fees (~2.5% combined depending on card and country). Payouts go directly to the coach's bank account.

How does Gymkee compare to Trainerize?

Both cover programming, client tracking, and payments. The differences: Gymkee is built in Europe with native multi-currency and 32-language support, has a more modern client app UI, and includes nutrition, recipes, white-label, and AI features at lower price points. Trainerize has a larger North-American user base and longer history. Coaches with English-speaking clients in North America often stay on Trainerize; coaches with European or international clients often switch to Gymkee.

How does Gymkee compare to TrueCoach?

TrueCoach is programming-focused — strong workout builder, lighter on everything else. Gymkee covers programming with a similar quality bar, plus nutrition, payments, on-demand content, branded mobile app, and 32 languages. Coaches who only need clean programming sometimes prefer TrueCoach. Coaches who want one tool for the whole business pick Gymkee.

Is the client app available on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Native iOS app on the App Store and native Android app on Google Play. There is also a web fallback for clients who cannot install a mobile app. The apps work offline — workouts cache locally and sync when the connection is back.

Can I white-label the client app?

Three levels. Custom colors are available on the Pro plan. Custom logo (your logo replacing Gymkee's in the client app) is on Business. A fully white-labeled app — published under your name on the App Store and Google Play with zero Gymkee branding — is the Custom plan (€349 / $349 a month, 12-month commitment, €499 / $499 one-time setup).

Does Gymkee support nutrition coaching?

Yes, on Pro and above. Includes a drag-and-drop meal plan builder, AI nutrition program generation from a client's goals, a Gymkee-certified 5M+ food database, barcode scanning, AI photo recognition, 100+ recipes with auto-calculated macros, flexible macro goals, and the Gymkee Score for nutritional quality. Clients track their meals on the mobile app; coaches see adherence in the dashboard.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. 14 days, full access on the Pro feature set, no credit card required. Coaches typically import or build a real program, invite a real client, and run a real week of training during the trial.

How long does it take to get set up?

Most coaches are up and running in under 30 minutes — create the first program, invite a client, and start. Coaches migrating from another tool with a large client base can use bulk exercise import and program duplication to bring everything over in a few hours.

What languages are supported?

Gymkee supports 32 languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), Polish, Swedish, Romanian, Czech, Greek, Ukrainian, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Darija (Moroccan Arabic), Persian, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Hindi, Bengali, Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Malay, Filipino, Swahili, Hausa, and Yoruba. Coach and client each pick their own language independently.

Where is Gymkee based?

Gymkee is headquartered in Paris, France. The team works remote-first across Europe. EU customer data is hosted in EU regions of Google Cloud Platform.

Does Gymkee have native live video calls?

No. Gymkee does not bundle video conferencing. Coaches typically use Zoom, Google Meet, or FaceTime alongside Gymkee for live sessions, and use Gymkee for everything else.

How do I contact Gymkee?
